It Starts With The Parents

At Aspen Doodles, we believe that a well-rounded, obedient, trainable puppy with excellent temperament, high aptitude and great genetics begin with exceptional parents. That’s why we raise our future breeding dogs from the time they are puppies, hand picked through the finest genetic tests, temperament and aptitude tests, providing them with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI), structured temperament and cognitive development, obedience and agility training, as well as comprehensive health, genetic, aptitude and temperament testing.

Only the top quality and high performing dogs who meet our high standards are welcomed into our program – and never before the age of 2, to protect both their health and the health of their litters. We do not offer guardianship programs like many breeders, where breeding dogs are raised in other homes, as we want to ensure every dog in our care receives the utmost attention, love and training according to our standards and that of GANA and DKC.

All our parent dogs are beloved family members and live with us in our home, enjoying 4,500 sq feet of indoor living space and 3 acres of outdoor space for exercise and enrichment. They are also exposed to a variety of animals – including reptiles, cats, birds, aquatic species and even farm animals with our neighboring farms – to build confident, socialized, adaptable temperaments that shine through in their puppies.

Puppy Program at Aspen Doodles

At Aspen Doodles, we believe that the foundation of a happy and well-rounded doodle starts with intentional and science backed early development. From the moment our puppies are born, they are nurtured with the same dedication and care we give to their parents.

During their first few critical weeks, we guide them through Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) to boost their confidence, resilience and adaptability.

As they grow, we introduce them to age appropriate socialization experiences, get them used to gentle handling which makes future grooming and training a lot easier, early crate training, early leash training, sound and sensory integration, cognitive development and enrichment that prepares them for life in the real world.

Our puppies are raised, in the heart of our home, surrounded by everyday sights, smells, sounds, and family life, ensuring they leave our home well-adjusted and ready to join yours. By the time they are ready to go home, they have a strong foundation for training, a healthy start backed by veterinary care, and the loving, confident temperament that is the Aspen Doodles hallmark.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI) & Sensory Development

Our puppies follow a comprehensive early stimulation program designed to boost neurological growth and resilience. This includes:

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS):

Gentle, structured exercises during the critical first two weeks of life to promote healthy brain and nervous system development.

Early Scent Introduction (ESI) and Sensory Integration

Exposure to sights, sounds, smells and textures from an early age to build adaptability and confidence.

Cognitive Development:

Age-appropriate challenges that encourage problem solving and learning.

By carefully guiding puppies through these programs, we nurture stronger immune systems, quicker learning abilities and better stress tolerance.

Early Puppy Training and Socialization

Training begins long before puppies go home with you. We focus on key foundational skills including:

Crate Training

Introducing the crate as a safe, comforting space to promote healthy habits, discipline, and reduce anxiety.

Collar and Leash Training

Early collar and leash exposure helps puppies learn walking manners and prepares them for enjoyable outdoor adventures with you.

Play Therapy and Learning

Through intentional play with a variety of toys, we stimulate development across motor skills, cognitive function and social interaction.

Sensory Enrichment

Toys and activities that stimulate challenges. Exposure in a safe space to different smells, sights, sounds and touch, help puppies adapt to new environments.

Our approach ensures puppies are ready to transition smoothly into their forever homes with confidence and basic skills.

Puppy Testing and Assessment

We take pride in knowing each puppy’s unique personality and potential through thorough testing including temperament, behavior and aptitude testing.

Temperament Testing

Evaluating assertiveness with humans, confidence, motivation level, nerve strength, touch tolerance, energy level, sound sensitivity, sight sensitivity, prey drive, human vs pack focus, overwhelm response, and friendliness to prepare for matching puppies with their families. We conduct the BAB Puppy Evaluation.

Aptitude Assessment

Measuring problem solving skills, learning speed and response to stimuli to understand each pup’s strength. We assess for social interaction, willingness to follow a person, restraint, social dominance, tolerance, retrieving, and stability. We conduct the Volhard’s Puppy Aptitude Test.

These tests and assessments help us provide you with detailed insights about your puppy’s character and guide ongoing training recommendations.

At Aspen Doodles, your puppy’s healthy development and training are our top priority in our Puppy Program. We are committed to raising Doodles that bring joy, companionship, loyalty, obedience and lifelong love to their families.
